Here we are, getting deeper into the year. All Visual Arts students at West Oak are well into their first project and art dealing with the fact that their work will need to be "complete." What does that mean? The word complete in the art room is not the same as it may be for your Geometry class. Many students struggle with the decision of when to stop working. I have, myself struggled with getting work to the point where I can say, "There, it's done!" I have many times had to throw a piece in the trash because I worked on it to the point that it was ruined. What does it mean to complete a piece of art work?
Remember that work ethic and becoming fully involved in the act of making art are the two key ingredients to creating successful work in this room. Simply raising your hand and saying, Ms. Funchess, I'm done!" will lead me to believe that you may not see the value in the work you are making.

Ms Funchess,
Your blog is awesome and I hope your students will use it for sharing their learning experiences.
